SCAM!!! The scammer will be out in full force over the next few months. They will try to take advantage of the fact that many owners have lost a lot of money during this time so will be desperate enough to be careless.

A May cancellation was "waived" and did not count against my metrics

It seems that the most recently updated Vrbo policy is still covering reservations through April 30:

How does the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) affect my property?

Updated March 30, 2020.

For reservations booked before March 13, with a stay night between March 13 and April 30...

I had a cancellation a few days ago for May 2-9 which I processed for the traveler as COVID-19 (my area has closed accommodations through April 30, but the guests are 2 older couples worried about traveling).  I wondered how the cancellation would be handled in regards to my ranking metrics since the dates fell outside of Vrbo's policy.  My Cancellation Rate reflected it, but within a couple of days, this one joined my other April cancellations in a "waived" category.   I'm grateful & would like to thank the team handling this.

Can't say that they would all be handled this way, but if you're getting May requests to cancel, it would appear that they're not counting against our Cancellation metric.

Did you cancel or did guest cancel?

What is your refund policy?  Did you hold firm and/or mitigate*?  (*Under what terms?)

Thanks for posting -- AND -- for providing further detail.

From Nasdaq.com:

"There's no telling when the travel business will return to any kind of normal, but the recovery projection keeps getting extended. What investors are worried about now is how companies like Expedia will cut enough costs to remain profitable. You can see below that the company has $4.9 billion of debt to just $3.3 billion in cash, and reported just $565 million in net income last year. If revenue plunges in 2020, the losses could mount quickly."

And this was from 2019 year end financial numbers. What happens for 2020? First quarter reports are going to be ugly (should be released around May 13th). But 2nd quarter will be even worse?

Perhaps someone alot more in the know that I am here on this board, can express there thoughts

I just tell them I want to keep my good standing with VRBO so I don't want to book off the platform.

Hey DB thanks for sharing, very interesting article. I would think it would have to be a fire sale, with todays environment for someone to buy out Expedia. Especially the big name groups mentioned.  They didn't get to the point they are by making decisions that didn't show there merits.
